College Catalogs Increase Their Menu of Online Learning Course Offerings - SYLVIA TIERSTEN, San Diego Business Journal
Undergraduate students at San Diego State University and the region’s community colleges face a widening array of traditional and online learning choices. Meanwhile, online offerings for matriculating students at the University of San Diego and UC San Diego are few to none. “Online learning is the new normal — and it’s almost becoming a preference,” said Andrea Henne, dean of online and distributed learning for the San Diego Community College District, including City, Mesa and Miramar colleges. SDCCD, which awards two-year associate degrees, has offered online general education courses for the past nine years.
