Online Leanring Technologies Enable 'Knowledge Ontario' - DAWN KIDDELL, Standard Freeholder
Do you know what Knowledge Ontario is? More than just a catch phrase, Knowledge Ontario offers digital services through five projects all offered through Ontario Public Libraries: Ask Ontario, Connect Ontario, Learn Ontario, Resource Ontario, and Our Ontario. The provincial Public Libraries Act mandates that all citizens have free access to basic library service. In communities with a smaller tax base, per capita support for libraries is lower and they may be missing services and collections offered by larger, better funded, libraries. In order to create a more level playing field for libraries across the province, Ontario dedicated $15 million to develop online resources freely available to all its citizens. Learn Ontario is an educational resource component intended to support greater library/school collaboration by providing a series of online learning resources.
