Learning online from a distance - Brian Bullock, Adobe Press
Hancock College anthropology instructor Brian Stokes teaches students from Santa Maria to Iraq, all without leaving the comfort of his office. “Distance learning” is the latest catch phrase for online education and its enrollment numbers are rising faster than a high-speed download. A little more than 10 years ago, Hancock had only about 500 students taking Internet classes. In spring 2008, more than 4,000 students were enrolled. This year, Hancock will offer 174 distance-learning classes, three of which Stokes teaches. All but 10 are Internet classes.
