I'm Waving at You! - Jen Maney, School Library Journal
It wasn’t until I had a group project that I got my first taste of what Google Wave can do. For the past two years, my library system has partnered with our state library to offer an online Learning 2.0 training program. We decided to launch our second program at the Arizona Library Association’s 2009 annual conference, but our four presenters weren’t able to get together beforehand. In a bit of a last-minute panic, we decided to get onto Wave and prep. What a revelation! After one of us posted an outline, we were able to comment on it and see each other type onscreen. It was like chat, but not chronological. Like email, but simultaneous. It was beautiful. We used the Wave to throw out ideas, organize our thoughts, rearrange our workshop agenda, and talk to one another. Our Wave is a document, a conversation, a piece of our collective history, and most importantly for the conference, our completed plan.
