With podcasting, online learning chat rooms, Florida's universities prepare for swine flu - KIMBERLY MILLER, Palm Beach Post
University professors usually can expect a handful of their students to be absent at any given time during a semester. This fall, they're being told to prepare for up to 50 percent of classroom seats to be emptied by the swine flu - including their own. "We want faculty to understand it's going to be more than just one person absent for a few days," said Mark Poisel, associate vice president of student development at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. "There is a lot of planning happening. What happens if there is a surge? What happens if it's 300 students a day who are out?"
