More Oklahoma schools offering online learning - JESSE OLIVAREZ AND DAWN MARKS, News OK
Oklahoma schools have slowly begun to explore the possibility of teaching classes entirely online. Some districts have begun providing online education either on their own or through contracts with private companies. There are more students who take online classes from private companies, which are not under the authority of the state Education Department, said Shelly Hickman, department spokeswoman. "We do ensure accountability of the public school students,” she said. "They still have to be tested.”
