Peers voice concern over swine flu 'delays' - AFP
The Department of Health said the "final version" of the helpline service being launched later this year would "carry additional administrative flexibilities, but the core functions are the same", without providing details. The report also praised steps taken by the government including stockpiling drugs and ensuring there are enough collection points. Meanwhile, it emerged that the BBC could have to clear its schedules and show educational programmes so children can learn at home if schools are forced to shut by the pandemic. "The government drew up plans to deal with a flu pandemic more than 18 months ago which give indications for contingency plans, including online learning and discussions with broadcasters including the BBC and Teachers TV," said Chris Keates, general secretary of the NASUWT teaching union.
