University of Maine System to Consider Expanding Online Learning - Heather Zimar, Online Transcript
The University of Maine System is considering expanding online learning opportunities at its campuses, reports The Morning Sentinel.Students at Maine's seven universities took 10 percent of their credit hours online during the 2009-09 school year. That is up from 7 percent in the 2008-09 school year and 6 percent in the 2006-07 school year. While Maine has experienced cuts in state aid and investments, the pool of college-age students is also shrinking, the Sentinel reported. To attract more students, the university system will consider offering more classes online and improving online offerings.
