University Officials Say Policy Needed For Long Distance Degree Programs - Rob Moritz, THE MORNING NEWS
University of Arkansas President B. Alan Sugg, at the request of board chairman Tim Hunt, agreed to explore the issue and see if a systemwide policy can be developed governing long-distance online learning partnerships with other colleges and universities. “There are a lot of people who take those degree programs,” Sugg said, about earning bachelor’s degrees through long-distance education. “I think this is really an opportunity for us to come back to the board and really talk about distance education and what distance education is, and then how we think we’re going to manage this, how we think we’re going to do this and let our institutions get involved in.”
