Girl, 7, Heads To Tallahassee To Change Florida Online Learning Law - Bay News 9
A state law is keeping a young girl from taking part in an online class, and she's taking on Tallahassee in an attempt to change it. Jessica Howard, 7, and her mother, Wendy, are out to make some changes to Florida's online education law. The law provides for virtual education for elementary and middle school students. The problem? The law mandates that students must be enrolled in public school for one year before they take part, a restriction that leaves Howard, who is home-schooled, out of luck.
