Students learning online from each other with online resource - JC Online
Doctoral student Deen King-Smith knows that some students simply don't learn while sitting in a classroom. Whether it be because of a short attention span or a difficulty understanding the material, detailed subjects, such as mathematics or engineering, can sound like a foreign language in a crowded lecture hall. That's why King-Smith and a group of other Purdue University students developed "Rhea," a program that lets students learn complex material from each other instead of from a textbook. "This is difficult material, no question about it," King-Smith said. "Tests come quickly, and I know a lot of people are too embarrassed to ask for a tutor. We take studying to a new level by letting students go online and help each other, forum style. No long lectures, and you can get your questions answered quickly."
