MUSIC, technology and education have each evolved at an unprecedented rate in recent decades. Most music is now digital and routinely accessed and distributed online. This sea-change might seem threatening to some institutions, particularly those with a commitment to traditional western music. Creative Music Technology at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama has always endeavoured to reflect and respond positively to change. The time has come to consider how best the conservatoire learning programme can adapt and benefit from using the technology which is the student’s natural environment.
