NYC public school online learning courses long overdue - Kathleen Byrne, NY School Examiner
"The NYC Department of Education has focused its technology goals on analyzing standardized test data, spending $80 million on ARIS, a program rife with inadequacies, inaccuracies and inefficiencies. The focus, instead, ought to be teaching students about technology with technology using online courses for credit. More than 70 percent of U.S. school districts provide online instruction to their students. Our neighbor New Jersey is working on a proposal to require students to take at least one online course to graduate, according to the New York Times.
