Montrose students take online learning classes to get diplomas - Kristin Longley, The Flint Journal
Donnie Wallace wasn't sure he'd get a second chance. He was kicked out of middle school last year for behavioral issues. He wasn't functioning well in class and admits he was on a downward spiral. His grades were suffering. But a pivotal opportunity was presented to him midway through what would have been his eighth-grade year. Now, it's almost like he's a different person. Donnie, 14, is one of six Montrose students who take all of their high school classes online, a year after the Montrose School District became one of a handful of schools in the state under a pilot program. "I'm carrying all straight A's," Donnie said proudly. "I'm pretty much staying on track."
