7th graders take class in Cleveland - Katharine Ball, the Californian
Pupils learn about Impressionistic art without leaving San Benancio School. San Benancio seventh-graders became the first middle-schoolers in Monterey County to engage in distance learning Jan. 7, when they took a seminar on Impressionism through a live Internet connection with a teacher at the Cleveland Museum of Art in Ohio. Three classes took turns coming to the school library, where Web cams and voice connections allowed two-way video conferencing. The students were able to see and hear Arielle Levine, an online learning instructor with the Cleveland museum, and she could see and hear them.
