Online class prepares students for college
When Thornton Academy students in John Raby’s “War in Iraq” class settled into their desks for class Tuesday evening, they were opening laptop computers, not notebooks. Raby gave the students an assignment to develop a presentation about Iraqi Sunnis using Keynote, a digital slideshow program. Raby and the students discussed the best online resources with which to research the project and began working. Each student could work on their own laptop, and then later compile the information into one document. Between classes, the students use podcasts and other Internet resources to learn about and stay up to date on the war.
