Embracing Online Learning ; Benefits Abound, but Some Teachers Are Skeptical - PATRICIA ALEX, the Bergen County Record
The move toward Internet-based learning shows no signs of slowing. Distance learning has become a major component in professional development coursework. The University of Phoenix, the largest in the country, exists primarily online. And now more than 20 percent of traditional college students take at least one online course. In New Jersey, education officials are pushing an initiative that would require all high school students to take at least one course online. Proponents say the advantages are legion -- starting with convenience for students.
