Mobile Online Learning: Cell Phones Make Headway in Education - Olga Kharif, Business Week The iPhone and other smartphones are gaining the attention of education professionals for their potential as learning tools. Cell phones have long been considered classroom distractions, but the ability of smartphones to run a wide variety of applications opens the door to greater possibilities. One university in Texas, for instance, is giving iPhones to two-thirds of its incoming freshman class.... Other schools across the country, from Michigan to Maryland and Texas to North Carolina, are coming to the same conclusion -- that advanced wireless devices can be used as much for learning as for entertainment.
