Disrupting Class - A New Book by Clayton Christensen, Michael B. Horn and Curtis W. Johnson
Clayton Christensen is best known for his disruptive innovation theory. It has proven accurate in many fields - none more so than the computer and information technology field. An innovation (such as the personal computer) arrives that changes the way the entire field is organized. We have seen that with so many technologies - cell phones, email, instant messaging, etc. Now Christensen and his colleagues turn to the education system. Here again, the technology is the trigger - computer-based learning is leading us to student-centric teaching and learning. The revolution is changing the way we teach and learn. This book gives those of us in the field of educational technology hope that our efforts in constructivist approaches to technology-enhanced teaching and learning will prevail. It is a great read; required reading technology coordinators, chief information officers, school principals and superintendents, teachers, parents, and all who have an interest in assuring that our education system be the best it can be for all students. --ray
