Schools to develop distance online learning program for emergencies - Dirk Perrefort, News Times
The school district recently received a $90,000 federal grant to develop a program that would allow distance learning in the event of an emergency. The district was the only one in the state, and one of about 90 districts in the country, to receive a grant under the federal Department of Education's Readiness and Emergency Management program. "We are very excited about this," said Superintendent Joseph Castagnola. "It's really a feather in the town's cap. Discretionary federal grants like this don't come around often."
