Abacus jockeys get their beans by online learning - The Age (Australia)
An online learning bachelor of accounting degree will be the first to be delivered entirely electronically in Australia, including interaction with tutors and access to full-text library resources. It's the first higher-education degree for Cengage Education, which offers 70 vocational correspondence courses. Fifty students have access to a portal built from open source and proprietary educational management building blocks. Cengage tailored the open-source Moodle used by teaching institutions worldwide to its needs. It includes transportable sticky notes for students to share thoughts with tutors and each other. Tutors moderate online discussions and can hold group chat sessions. Instant messaging linked to email offers students personal contact with tutors.
