Distance online learning program blossoms - ALKHANSA EL-BEDAWI, Tucson Citizen
High school students looking to get ahead can choose from about 80 courses online through Tucson Unified School District's Tucson Distance Learning Program. The program offers courses ranging from biology to bowling to help students, whether they must repeat a course or can't attend traditional classes because of work, family or other responsibilities. "Distance learning is the way of the future," said program coordinator Stuart Baker. "Distance learning fills in all the gaps that a high school cannot. It provides further alternatives that high schools don't offer."
