Stanford distance online learning program wins $25,000 - Palo Alto Online
A Stanford distance learning program that enrolls high school students to learn about Japan has received a $25,000 prize, the Asia Society at Stanford has announced. The $25,000 prize will be used to fund the 2008-09 Reischauer Scholars Program. The program is named for Edwin Reischauer, former U.S. ambassador to Japan. Gary Mukai of the Stanford Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education, which oversees the scholars program, and Naomi Funshasi, the program's primary instructor, accepted the prize recently at an awards luncheon in New York City.
