As more students look to the Web to complete academic degrees, local higher education officials are seeking to expand and strengthen their distance education programs. Mindy Cherrington is pursuing an online master’s degree from the University of Missouri while working full time as a nurse at University Hospital. But she wondered how she could pursue a degree and balance the demands of her family and her full-time job as a nurse in University Hospital’s intensive-care unit. The answer: an online degree.
