John says he would "actively try to avoid employers ... who felt that the only way to get a worthwhile education was to sit in a physical classroom." If the degree is from "Jack's Internet School," I would be very skeptical. But having tried "the traditional college thing twice" and "absolutely hating it," he is sold on the online learning distance-learning program for his Internet marketing education. Online learner Susan says the environment is more equalitarian because everyone participates. She wonders if the perception of online learning degrees as less desirable might be because "everyone is required to 'talk' and it becomes quite obvious that there is a high percentage of recent high school grads with poor grammar and writing skills." Thomas says online courses he has taken at his community college were "every bit as equal to what I would have received in their classrooms" and that in some ways better prepared him for the modern workplace. "We increasingly rely on e-mail ... we must be able to express ourselves in this medium. ... Online education is a great place to gain those skills."
