Schools want to give all students equal access - SHAWN CETRONE, Charlotte Observer
Union County school officials say they are looking for ways to make more highly specialized classes, such as Chinese language training, available to high school students across the county.... Parkwood High teaches a sign language class, which students can take for foreign language credit. When a student at Forest Hills High said she wanted to take the class, the school issued her a laptop for a online learning - "distance learning" pilot program.Another Forest Hills High student is taking an advanced physics course online. And Weddington High students can take online Latin classes. Revising registration forms and online classes are steps in the right direction, Morrison-Hansley said.
