Making higher education an accessible resource - JAN SCHMITTAUER, Athens, Ohio Messenger
In keeping with the spirit of the University System of Ohio and Ohio University-Chillicothe's ongoing mission to serve the region, the campus is looking at ways to make higher education more accessible to area residents. A recent workshop at the campus, which was attended by nearly 30 faculty members from varying disciplines, focused on identifying how best to offer online and distance learning in a way that integrates content and delivery so that students benefit from an educational experience that is of the same quality or better than what occurs in the traditional classroom setting. This workshop is the first part of a campus initiative to offer more classes online and blended in a manner that best meets the needs of our students and faculty while utilizing existing and emerging technologies such as podcasting, blogs, wikis and other interactive tools.
