Online degrees surging: Nationwide: 1 in 5 students are enrolled in an online course - Brian Morelli, Iowa City Press-Citizen
Online enrollment is up 800 percent since 2003 and up 25 percent since 2007. Most days Emily Dvorak student-teaches from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at West High and then scoots across town to lead an after school program at Horace Mann Elementary from 2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., so it would be hard to imagine squeezing much more into her day. Think again. How about packing in a full-time masters’ in education program? Dvorak carries a 3.96 as she puts the finishing touches on a masters’ through the Davenport-based Kaplan University, a 22-state, 70 campuses, 27,000-student school that specializes in online degrees.
