Kenya: Pioneer Online Learning Trained Nurses Set to Graduate - Kui Kinyanjui, All Africa
The first crop of nurses who trained online will graduate this week providing an additional stream of professionals to the understaffed health sector. Ninety-eight nurses who are set to graduate on Friday broke new ground in e-training. The arrangement is part of the Kenya Nurse Upgrading Programme, a public-private partnership that seeks to upgrade the skills of 20,000 nurses. Billed as critical to Kenya's ability to deal with the acute shortage of nursing colleges in Kenya, it kicked off two years ago in four pilot schools with 145 students.
