Distance learning provides economies for educators - Karine Abalyan, Journal Inquirer
In a dark classroom at Ellington High School, seven students sit around a whiteboard doubling as a projection screen. They concentrate as a math teacher based at Suffield High School is explaining percents, writing out numbers, and asking questions as if he were right there in Ellington and not in a building 17 miles away. Suddenly, the onscreen image changes and the students in Ellington see a similar classroom of teenagers working on the same math problem. "Oh, Suffield," someone says, identifying the group.
