NVCC Uses Internet Math Program - Voices News (Connecticut)
Naugatuck Valley Community College, in a continued effort to assist students not academically prepared for college-level math, is utilizing a new Internet-based multimedia software system this fall that will allow students to do their algebra work from any computer connected to the Internet. Eleven classes in NVCC's fall semester are using the new Academic Systems Algebra from PLATO Learning, Inc., a leading provider of kindergarten through adult computer-based and e-learning software. The system helps students understand and apply the principles of algebra in a flexible and interactive format at times that are convenient for the students. Previously, NVCC used an older version of the same software. The new system will be used in traditional classroom work, distance learning online and hybrid courses, which combine classroom and online time.
