ECU gets $800,000 for media training - Ada Evening News
The federal Institute of Museum and Library Services has awarded an $800,733 grant to East Central University to expand its successful Library Media Specialist Program to meet the workforce needs of public schools, public libraries, colleges and universities located in the western half of Oklahoma. Teachers in 156 rural school districts in 30 counties in western Oklahoma will have the opportunity to participate in the program and earn master's degrees in education from ECU with the library media specialist option.... ECU will work in partnership with Cameron University, Oklahoma Panhandle State University, Northwestern Oklahoma State University, the Oklahoma State Department of Education and the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education to develop the Westward Expansion Project. Distance learning technology will be used to transmit the courses to the three universities.
