State wants high schoolers to get more college credit - Associated Press
Education advocates want more high school students to take advantage of a state-paid program that enables them to earn college credits. Those enrolled in the Post-Secondary Enrollment Options program are able to earn high school and college credits at the same time. The district saves money by not having to provide services for those in the options program, Wilson said.... Traditionally, high-school students in the program take the classes on a college campus. But some colleges and universities, such as University of Akron's University College, are beginning to offer distance learning programs.
