School district continues theme of innovation with online courses - Amanda Maynord, Nashville City Newspaper
Metro Schools’ officials are hoping that the addition of online courses for students at their new “Big Picture” school will be another stepping stone on their way to achieving high school reform. Tentatively slated to begin next school year, students at the “Big Picture” school will be able to take an entry level Algebra 1 or Biology 1 course online as part of a preliminary statewide program called E4TN. The “Big Picture” school itself is a departure for Metro Schools in that students attending the school will undergo project-based learning and spend more time in an internship-type setting rather than a traditional classroom.
