Public schools go online - BRIAN WALLACE, Lancaster Intelligencer Journal
Today, blendedschools.net has agreements with 122 school districts and intermediate units in Pennsylvania and serves 25,800 students statewide. The organization, which is governed by a board of public school superintendents, hires "highly certified" teachers from its member districts to help develop its courses, Jed Friedrichsen, chief administrative officer, said.... Despite the recent growth in virtual instruction at public schools, they lag far behind colleges, he said. Nearly 92 percent of college students nationwide use online technology in their course work, Friedrichsen said, while only one in 15 public school districts offers that option.
