Short degrees 'respond to demand' - BBC
Students like accelerated learning as a quicker, cheaper route to a job. Two-year degrees are making higher education more responsive to a wider range of students, a review has said. The Sheffield Hallam University report said "fast-track" degrees suited more mature and able students. Ministers stress they are "no easy option". Students saw the main benefit as being the reduced costs, though the shorter route to a job was also important. Employers and professional bodies were mostly also supportive, provided quality was being maintained.
