Two and a half years to complete an associate tech degree? Some law schools have adapted degree programs that allow J.D.s to be earned in that length of time. Many bachelor degree programs for returning adults as well accelerated MBA programs take less than two years to complete.
 

I am most dubious of accelerated degree programs. Research studies that compare scores of final exams re-administered one year out by students who have completed an accelerated eight week class to those who have taken a 16-week term class seem to indicate those who took 16 weeks display greater retention and depth of knowledge.

Indiana University is offering a three-plus-one degree with students taking three years at a community college and one year of self-paced, non-interactive studies from IU. I am most interested studies of the learning that takes place these kinds of programs as well.

My fears are that accelerated programs devalue the degree. I would hope that those offering accelerated (and self-paced, non-interactive) programs will produce studies showing that the graduates of their programs achieve and retain the same, or higher, learning levels as those in the traditional-length programs that encourage interaction and engagement.
