Academic Counseling Invaluable To Adult College Students - Linda Larkin, theDay
Providing academic counseling services to adult college students is challenging, demanding, and without question, rewarding! Advising adults allows academic counselors to be privy to the rich narratives of student life experiences. While higher education deals routinely with transcripts, colleges who serve the adult population find that the resume is an important adjunct. Resumes provide “a wider angle lens” that allows counselors to view their students' accomplishments and successes as well as the twists and turns of their professional lives. It is through this panoramic view that college academic counselors are able to address student needs in a highly individualized “boutique” fashion.
