USF online classes offer real-time interaction - EMILY MORRIS, Sarasota Herald Tribune
Carly Haseneauer logs into class about 15 minutes early. Once the lecture begins, if she has a question she raises her hand with a click of the mouse and waits for the teacher to call on her. Haseneauer is one of a growing number of students at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee campus who attend class, participate in discussions and join study groups all via computer. Using Elluminate, a real-time virtual classroom program, professors are simultaneously lecturing students both in class and on the Internet.
