Distance learning catching on - Diane Hirth, Tallahassee Democrat
Jon Zimmerman thinks earning a master's degree in business administration online is better than doing it on campus, because of the interplay of ideas among working professionals in his classes. That doesn't mean it's easy for the Illinois resident to be an online student at Florida State University. "It takes a great deal of commitment and organization," Zimmerman, 36, wrote in an e-mail to the Tallahassee Democrat. "After putting my (three) kids to sleep at night at 9 p.m., I pull open the PC and/or books and focus on the night's assignment. I am typically up until 12 or 1 a.m., during the week, and spend an additional four to six hours over the weekend."
