Students find class options online - Erin Elaine Mosely, Montgomery Advertiser
The room is empty, but Kristyn Rhoades knows she's not alone. During second period, while other Wetumpka High School students take notes or nod off in class, Rhoades joins hundreds of students across the state who are attending Lisa Whittington's American government class -- in cyberspace. Despite not knowing exactly where her teacher is located, Rhoades maintains daily contact with her teacher as she learns about civil liberties and America's two-party system. Rhoades is one of the first students to participate in the statewide distance learning program, Alabama Connecting Classrooms, Educators and Students Statewide (ACCESS).
