Online and on task: Degree programs done via computer work for many, but experts advise checking them out - Jennifer Babulsky, Altoona Mirror
Anna Rose Eckenrode of Altoona works online on her master’s degree in adult education from Penn State World Campus. She expects to graduate in December. In many ways, Anna Rose Eckenrode is your typical student pursuing her master’s degree. She has an array of assignments and projects to complete on time, all while working full-time and raising three children with her husband, Tony. But there is a key difference between Eckenrode and many other students — the 44-year-old Altoona resident is taking many of her courses online. “With online (classes), as long as you utilize your time management skills, you’re fine,” she said. “I can do it at my convenience. (For) some of the students, it’s also demographic. It may be too far to go to a university and for students with a disability, it’s a plus (taking online courses).”
