High School Students Generate 24 College Enrollments at University College at Thomaston - University College at Thomaston, Maine
This spring semester, University College at Thomaston more than doubled the number of local high school students taking advantage of "early college" opportunities. According to UCT Student Services Coordinator, Beverly Bayer, high school students from Georges Valley, Rockland District and Camden Hills Regional High Schools are taking college courses at UCT for both high school and college credit. Bayer explained that through "High School Aspirations" funding from the Maine State Legislature and the University System, high school juniors and seniors can enroll in a single course tuition free provided they have permission from guidance counselors and parents. A second course may be taken for 1/2 tuition costs.
