Online offerings offer model to bring back homeschoolers - Tom Klein, Timberjay Newspapers
A Minnesota school district has found a unique way to bring its classes to home-schooled students. The Houston County School District offers its full curriculum through two online schools — a virtual program for students in grades K-8 and another geared for students in grades 9-12. The program has been so successful that online students now outnumber the school enrollment on campus. About 500 attend classes in Houston public schools while 600 are enrolled in the virtual K-8 program and another 100 in the 9-12 program, both of which are offered statewide.
