Lack of basic skills shouldn't hold you back - Aled Blake, Western Mail
Nearly one in ten adults in Wales feel a lack of maths, English or IT skills is holding them back, according to figures released by learndirect. It means that more than 185,000 adults in Wales could be missing out on promotions, pay rises and career opportunities at work because they lack the right skills. The research was commissioned by learndirect to highlight the importance of skills for individuals, businesses and the UK economy.... Jeff Greenidge, head of learndirect, said, "Poor skills have a hugely detrimental effect on people's life chances. As the largest government supported e-learning initiative in the world, learndirect is improving national productivity by providing widespread access to world-class learning, helping people fulfil their potential and helping businesses thrive.
