Tennessee Undergraduates Taking More Online Classes - Transcript
More 18- to 25-year old students in Tennessee are taking online courses along with their on-campus classes, reports The Tennessean. Once embraced primarily by adult students, online courses are now popular among traditional undergraduates because of their flexibility, campus officials say. Austin Peay State University offers 200 online classes. Seventy-five percent of students enrolled in at least one online class this fall are also enrolled in at least one on-campus class. APSU has seen growth in online programs and students. “We had a 100 percent increase from the fall of 2004 to fall of 2005, said Stanley Groppel, dean for the Center of Extended and Distance Education. “We had a 15 percent increase this fall, which is still very good.”
