Students attracted to distance learning - Jenn Marshall, The News Bulletin
A new distance learning program offered by the Nanaimo school district has generated a huge response from students and parents. "We're very pleased with the response so far," said school district assistant superintendent John Phipps, of the new learn@home 8-12 program that has started up this semester. It's home is at Nanaimo District secondary school. While a K-7 distance education program has been in place for a few years, Phipps said the school district has a one-year contract to try out the Grade 8-12 program. In June, the program will be evaluated based on three things: the success of the students, the quality of the education program and student satisfaction levels.
