Every job has its benefits. There are the obvious ones: salary, health insurance and paid vacation. But chances are you’re overlooking a key component of your compensation package: tuition reimbursement. Eighty percent of all medium and large firms offer programs that reimburse you to further your training or even get a degree, says Peter Cappelli, director of the Center for Human Resources at the University of Pennsylvania. The amount of money companies reimburse range from $400 to $25,000, according to a study by the human resources firm Hewitt Associates. That's not chump change. But surprisingly, only 3% of employees take advantage of it.
