Textbook distribution for school students is difficult and time-consuming in Bangladesh. Students outside Dhaka are not getting their school textbooks at the proper time. In fact , poor students are often obliged to give more money to buy the same books than their better off counterparts. School textbook publishing and distribution are businesses, where rampant corruption is the rule, rather than the exception. While the authorities concerned are trying to stop primary textbooks from being subject to the vagaries of the blackmarketeers and even RAB was appointed a few months ago to raid possible areas where black-marketing of primary textbooks take place, it would be unwise to think that the deplorable racket can be stopped merely by hunting down book peddlers like dealers of rice and wheat stocks in the black-market.
