South Korean Online Education Market to Expand Sharply - Korea Times
South Korea’s online learning market is expected to grow rapidly by the year 2010, boosted by people’s passion for education and the country’s information technology (IT) infrastructure, a report said Thursday. The market for e-learning is forecast to rise to 1.9 trillion won ($1.99 billion) for the full year of 2006 and expand at an average annual growth rate of 20 percent by 2010, the Korea Electronics Technology Institute said in its report. “South Koreans’ zeal for their children’s education, as well as the growth of the IT industry and education content, will lay the groundwork for expansion of the e-learning industry,” an official at the Ministry of Information and Communication said.
